Jim was born in Spalding, Saskatchewan on December 1, 1941 to Ivan and Edna Mohagen and he lived there with his older sister Phyllis and younger brothers Brian, Don, and Carl on the family farm. He attended school in Spalding and then Porquipine Plain for his grade 12 year. Jim began working and training at Sask Hospital Weyburn after high school and it was there that he met his future bride Yvonne Cascagnette who was also in training. It was there that he met lifelong friends and went on yearly “fishing” trips and many vacations with them. Jim and Yvonne moved their young family, son Mike and daughter Lori to Swift Current in 1968 where he began working for Community Mental Health. He started at Canada Employment and Immigration in 1974 as a councilor and remained there until 1995 when he retired. Jim started his next career as a real estate agent, however it was cut short by his first battle with cancer. He successfully beat the disease and enjoyed many years with his family and friends. During his retirement he enjoyed helping out on the farm, looking after his yard, delivering papers with one of his good friends, and hosting many gatherings where his barbqueing talents would shine-his burgers were legendary. Jim served on the Credit Union Board as well as Sask Abilities Council for many years. He was a longtime season ticket holder with the Swift Current Broncos and loved watching sports of all kinds both live and on TV. He also enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends, reading, and spending time with family. In healthier time, he was an avid golfer, jogger and fisherman. After moving from their house to a condo in Prairie Pioneers Manor. Jim was very content and met
many new friends. He enjoyed the activities, the excellent meals, having coffee with the “boys”, and hanging out in the hallway reading nook where he could read his paper in the sunshine and visit with everyone passing by. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Warren’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
