Connell, James “Jim”
Passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Nithview Long Term Care Centre at the age of 87.
Beloved husband of the late Joanie Connell (nee: Milne).
Loving father of Cameron Roy and David James (Kim).
Cherished grandfather of Madison and Chloe.
Dear brother of Jane Knapman (the late Dudley), of Mississauga.
Survived by his sisters-in-law Janet Thompson (the late Robert “Bob) and Joanne Connell and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his brother John “Jack”.
Jim worked at Economical Mutual Insurance Company for over 30 years. He spent many years as a young adult working with his father at Connell’s Mens Wear in Hamilton, ON. Jim was a competitive sailor at The Royal Hamilton Yacht Club with his boat “The Pot O’ Gold”. He loved cross country skiing in the winter and spent weekends during the summer hiking and completing the Bruce Trail twice!
Jim’s family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A graveside service will be held at Woodland Cemetery, 119 Arlington Blvd., Kitchener on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
