PEACOCK, James Brown
October 3, 1925 – May 15, 2018
James B. Peacock of Calgary Alberta, ( AKA Jimona or Papa) beloved grandfather to Sandy Smith, Ashley Gaudry, James LaRiviere, Brent LaRiviere, Caylin Delorme and Lisa Fernandes passed away on May 15, 2018 in Calgary Alberta at the age of 92.
He was born in Carluke, Scotland on October 3, 1925. James was pre-deceased by his parents, several of his siblings of the Carluke area of Scotland, his step-son Raymond Fernandes of New Orleans, Louisiana and his wife Veronica Peacock of Calgary, Alberta.
He is survived by several grand and great-grandchildren, his daughter Janet Wilby of the Isle of Wight, England and brother William of Carluke, Scotland.
He served in WWII for his Majesty’s forces in the Canal Zone of Egypt. This gave James the opportunity to see a lot of the world. James was proud of his experiences and loved sharing stories of them.
The family moved to Canada in the 1970’s by way of Toronto eventually settling in Calgary with his wife Vera and granddaughter Sandra. He was a manager at Sears until his retirement in December 1990. Upon retirement he dedicated his time to his great-grandchildren Ashley, James & Brent.
James will be dearly missed by all of those that knew him, especially by his family who affectionately knew him as Jimona and Papa.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Vets Canada, the War Amps of Canada or the Calgary Children’s hospital.
