Obituary of Jackie Armstrong
Mrs. Helen Jacqueline “Jackie” Armstrong was born in Penobsquis on March 22, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Willard and Mildred (Burns) Mitton.
Jackie was a strong, loving, stubborn and kind hearted woman who loved without conviction and with every ounce of her being. Jackie married the love of her life Bob on June 12, 1954 and together they would share 57 wonderful years together until his passing in 2011. She was first and foremost a woman with great love and devotion for her family. She adored all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and even their friends she took in over the years.
She loved to watch curling and knew them all by name; in her younger years she was an avid bowler but one of her favourite pastimes was playing cribbage with Bob in which she was able to get the perfect hand against him twice.
Jackie was a hard working woman, whether it was raising her children, working for Mac’s Grocery or doing the bookkeeping for Bob. She loved to cook and always enjoyed a glass of wine, feeding the birds; especially the cardinals and hummingbirds and of course you could always guarantee that the game show network was her default channel.
She will live on in the hearts of her sons: Ed Armstrong and his wife Connie of Wards Creek and Rob Armstrong and his wife Nadine of Riverview; her sister, Betty Myers and her husband Raleigh of Mount Hebron; her brother, Bobby Mitton and his wife Paulette of Ratter Corner; her brother-in-law, Harry Fanjoy of Dutch Valley; her grandchildren: Tracey Howe and her husband Pat, Stacey Dunfield and her husband Derek, Brad Armstrong and his wife Stevie and MacKenzie Armstrong; her great grandchildren: Isaac, Dax, Michael, Annie, Keira, Brianna, Shelby and Charlotte; as well as several nieces and nephews.
