Herder, Jack
Jack, a resident of Chatham, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the age of 77.
Beloved husband of Carol for 54 years.
Dear father of Rita Reinhardus & her husband, Ron, Carl Herder & his wife, Karyn (nee Pepper), and Christina Herder, all of Chatham.
Sadly missed by his 5 grandchildren, Tyler & Justin Reinhardus and Rachel, Casey & Christian Herder.
Also missed by his faithful companion, his German Shepherd, Lexi.
Jack was an employee of Navistar for 30 years and a long standing member of First Christian Reformed Church in Chatham, serving in various positions.
Survived by his two sisters, Martje & Ellie, both of Holland.
Predeceased by his parents, Cornelius & Eelkje Herder, 5 brothers & 1 sister.
Family to receive friends on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. A Funeral Service to celebrate Jack’s life will take place on Monday at First Christian Reformed Church, 25 Tweedsmuir Ave East at 11:00 am with Pastor Nate as officiant. Burial in Maple Leaf Cemetery to follow.
Donations in memory of Jack may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Pet & Wildlife Rescue.
