Obituary of J. Wesley Sloan
Passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 in his 94th year at the Babcock Community Care Centre in Wardsville, Ontario. Beloved husband of V. Fern (Cummings) Sloan for over 64 years. Loved father of Heather (late Andrew 2017) Cotton, Beth (Bob) McLandress, Carol (Paul) Swick and Lisa (pre-deceased 2016) (Rod) Simmons. Born in West Lorne on July 13, 1925, Wesley lived his whole life on the family farm. Dear grandfather to April (Brian) Dyck, Ryan McLandress (Luke Baxter), Wesley (Bethany) McLandress, Ashley Swick, and Sean Swick. Great-grandfather to Gemma McLandress. Son of the late John Russell Sloan and Sarah Ethelene (Schleihauf). Survived by sister Yvonne Collyer and sisters-in-law Pauline Hopkins and Jean Buttinger and is pre-deceased by his siblings Wanita (Mac) Webster, Gwen (Cecil) Campbell, Bill (Jean) Sloan, Jean (Doug) Zimmerman, George (Cela) Sloan and Jim Collyer. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Wesley was a member of the West Lorne Anglican Church and adherent to the West Lorne Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Babcock Community Care Centre for their care and compassion of Wes over the last six years. Wes always said, “flowers are for the living not the dead”, so in keeping with his wishes, memorial donations may be made to the West Lorne Baptist Church, Babcock Community Care Centre or the charity of your choice. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 1:00pm at DENNING’S of West Lorne, 202 Main Street with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
