Isobel “Lorraine” Fenwick
1936-2018
Mrs. Isobel “Lorraine” Fenwick passed
away peacefully on January 5, 2018 at the Adelaide Senior Care Home in
Waverley, NS. She was born Isobel Lorraine Curry on May 29,
1936 in Saint John, NB to Isobel Myles Curry (Taylor) and Charles
Curry, and was known as “Lorraine” throughout her life. She
graduated from Saint John High School in 1954 and married Rev. Dr.
Byron W. Fenwick, Sept. 7, 1963. Following their marriage, she and her
husband served in various churches throughout the Atlantic Provinces
and Ontario including Liverpool, NS, Saint John, NB, Kentville, NS,
Toronto, ON, St. John’s, NF, and Middleton, NS. She was an accountant
by profession and began her accounting career at Reevy Brothers in
Saint John, NB, and worked in a number of businesses throughout the
Atlantic Provinces. She served a nine-year term on the executive of
the Atlantic Baptist Women’s Convention holding consecutive 3-year
terms as vice-president, president, and past-president, and served as
business manager for Tidings magazine. In the last few years of her
life, she was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, which led to a
decline in her cognitive and motor skills, but she continued to know
her family and maintained her sweet and gracious disposition
throughout her life. After enjoying a wonderful Christmas season with
her family, she developed a heart block on New Year’s Eve
and died peacefully on January 5th with her
daughter, Angie, and son-in-law, Cliff, by her side. She will be
lovingly remembered by her daughters, Kim Fenwick (Leo Berk) and Angie
Fenwick Gibb (Cliff Fenwick Gibb); grandchildren, Courtney (Ryan
Larsen) and Chelsea Berk; sisters-in-law, Vivian (Irvine) Read,
Margaret Fenwick, and Janet (Vaughan) Roxborough; nieces, Margaret
Postlethwaite (Bob and children, Justin and Lucas), Margie Roxborough
(John Neville and children, Alexander and Rachel), and Heather
Roxborough (Bill Jackson); nephews, Don Read (Laura Beeler and
daughter, Maya), Scott Roxborough (Andrea and daughters, Eva and
Penny), and John Warnock (Jennifer and daughter, Caley). She was
predeceased by her parents, her brother, John Curry, and her husband.
Her family is grateful to the many people who cared for Lorraine as
her illness progressed, especially the staff of the Adelaide Senior
Care Home in Waverley, NS. For those who wish, donations in her memory
to Kentville United Baptist Church or the Alzheimer’s
Society of Nova Scotia would be appreciated by the family. No flowers
by request due to environmental sensitivity. Visitation will be held
from 3-4:30pm and 7-9pm, Friday, January 19, 2018 at the White Family
Funeral Home, 100 Cornwallis St, Kentville, NS. A funeral service in
celebration of Lorraine’s life will be held at 2pm,
Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Kentville United Baptist Church, 503
Main Street. Funeral arrangements have
been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
Services, Kentville.
