Irene Gladys Blowers
On October 30, 2018 at The Deer Lodge Centre, Irene Gladys Blowers, beloved wife of John (Jack) Blowers, passed away peacefully at the age of 97.
Irene worked as a stenographer for Harrisons & Crosfield for many years, retiring in 1961. After her first husband, George died suddenly in 1972, she returned to H&C to support her son Ed, working again until 1985. She was a committed member of St Matthew’s Anglican Church and enjoyed participating in decorating committees, fundraising, etc. She loved to socialize playing bridge, and kept up a remarkable garden. In her later life she enjoyed lawn bowling and playing cribbage. Irene met Jack where she lived at Colorado Estates, and they were married in 2000. She and Jack made many friends at Colorado Estates and Sturgeon Creek Retirement Residence and enjoyed playing in the Manitoba Seniors Games. Irene was predeceased by her parents Frank and Gladys Alty, and brother Frank. She is survived by son Ed (Kelly), grandchildren Kevin and Jenna, and many nieces and nephews.
Thanks to the staff of T4 at the Deer Lodge Centre for their tender and compassionate care of Irene until her passing.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Worship Centre at Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, November 7.
