Irene Elizabeth Thompson 2018

OBITUARY
Irene Elizabeth Thompson
September 18, 1931 – August 15, 2018
Irene slipped off to Heaven, happily and peacefully at home on August 15, 2018, after spending a wonderful day with family and friends surrounded by happiness and love. Irene was born September 18, 1931 in Gillingham, Kent, England, daughter of Hannah (Maria) and Clifford Chapple, sister to John, Marie, Dorothy, Pat and Delia. Irene and her sisters were sent off to Wales during the bombings of London during WWII. Irene married Tommy on September 1, 1956. Stephen was born in 1959, David in 1961, and Anne in 1965. Stephen died tragically in an accident in 1963. Despite losing her son, Irene bravely carried on facing each day with faith, love and joy. Irene and Tommy moved their young family to Canada in 1971, seeking a better life and lived in Hamilton/Burlington. Tommy passed in 1999, but Irene once again embraced her faith and knew that one day she would be joyfully reunited with her son and husband, as well as her mother, father, brother John, sisters Marie and Dorothy, and many good friends who predeceased her. That day has now come and she is at peace.
“And he will raise you up on eagle’s wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of his hand”.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 18th at 10 a.m. Regina Mundi RC Church, 631 Mohawk Rd. W., Hamilton. Cremation and interment to follow at a later date.
