Hughena ‘Ena’ MacLean
1922-2018
MacLean, Hughena “Ena” – Age 96 years of
Whycocomagh, Inverness Co. We the family of mourn her passing on
Wednesday, December 19, 2018 in Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck, Born in
Marion Bridge on June 8, 1922; a daughter of the late Hugh Morrison
and Nellie Sutherland. At the age of 7 when her
father passed away she was brought up by ‘Little
Grandma’ Margaret Campbell. Mom was a wonderful wife,
mother, grandmother and a great-grandmother.
She looked after children and foster children in her home.
She also looked after older people in her home. She was very kind and
taught everyone that visited her had to eat. Mom belonged to MacLean
UCW and later Whycocomagh UCW where she became a life
member.
Ena is survived by her family, Tootsie (Sonny) Smith, Malcolm
(Marlene) MacLean, Caroline Boomgaars MacLean, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren, Arlene (Darren) Ragan, Monica and Makayla Ragan,
Craig and Keara, Cindy (Larry) MacDonald, Brett (Biljana)
MacLean, Jullian MacLean, Jessica Maclean, Curtis (Cindy) Boomgaars
and Lucas, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her
husband, Neil MacLean in 1988, her dearly loved grandson Jeff
Boomgaars, (June 21, 2007); granddaughter, Kelly Marie Boomgaars; her
sisters, Elma (Donald) Garland, Elda (Kenny) Garland, Florence (Fred)
Kennedy, Jessie (Archie) MacKinnon; brothers, Murdock
Morrison, Arthur (Aggie) Poshey.
The family would like to thank all the staff of Alderwood for
being so good loving and caring for mom and to us. To the girls on
Bellisle thank you. To the kitchen staff for the lovely meals thank
you. To the cleaning ladies thank you. To the office ladies thank
you.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-8 p.m. in Dennis
Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 11
a.m. Saturday from Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh with Rev. Alicia
Cox officiating. Burial at a later date in Stewartdale Cemetery.
