Acker, Hilje- Shelburne; On April 22, 2018, at the age of 91, the world lost an amazing woman. Hilje was born on January 15, 1927 in Amsterdam, Holland. She was the only child of her parents Sikke and Augusta Wierenga. After high school she completed two years of Social School, her teenage years spent living in occupied Holland. At the end of WW11 she married the love of her life, a Canadian soldier, Frederick Earle Acker, and came to Canada as a war-bride on the ship “The Aquitania” to Pier 21. She lived a remarkable life and displayed strength, courage and loving values to her family who meant the world to her and her to them. She will be forever missed and loved by her daughters Diana Hardy (Wilmont) and Brenda Buchanan (Wallace). Also her four grandchildren: David, Debbie, Marla and Karen. She was so very proud of her six great-grandchildren: Ryan, Tylan, Kade, Mya, Madison and Camden. She is predeceased by her husband and her parents. A private family committal service will be held under the arrangements of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne with no visitation as per her wishes. Family flowers only. Donations can be made on her behalf to Pet Projects Shelburne. On-line condolences may be sent to:hmhuskilson@ns.aliantzinc.ca or you may sign the guest book at:www.huskilson.net
