Hilda Caroline Annie Wood (Watts)
1907 – 2018
Hilda was born on November 17, 1907 in Winnipeg, the eldest of 5 children. She celebrated her 110th birthday in Nov., 2017. She passed peacefully into her heavenly home on January 24, 2018 with family at her side.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Alma and Selina, brother John and their spouses, and brother-in-law Art Faiers, as well as her in-laws and brother-in-law, Harold Wood. Her devoted husband, Norm Wood predeceased her in 1971. She is survived by her only daughter, Lynda Dick, her granddaughters Michal-Joan (Mark) Jenkinson, Kathryn Dick and Pamela (Brian) Rempel and her great granddaughter, Audrey Jenkinson. Also surviving is her youngest sister, Edie Faiers, her special niece Donna (Ernest) Fraser, special friends Jane Dick and Adrian Valentin and sister-in-law Phyllis Wood as well as many nieces, nephews and their spouses across the country.
Hilda lived her entire life in Winnipeg, serving in her church and the Grace Hospital Auxiliary along with caring for her family and her home. She was a kind, gentle, loving lady who embraced life until a week before her passing.
The family would like to thank Home Care, especially Angie, Lena and Ophelia, the wonderful staff at Calvary Place Personal Care Home and Dr. McTaggart for their care and kindness shown towards Hilda and us.
The Memorial Service will be held at Broadway-First Baptist Church, 790 Honeyman Avenue (Wolseley area) on Tuesday, January 30 at 2:00 p.m. Elevator access is available.
