Herbert Wilhelm Gross 2018

OBITUARY
Herbert Wilhelm Gross
4 May , 1933 – 23 April , 2018
Herbert Gross, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2018. Herbert was born in Frankfurt, Germany and immigrated to Canada through Pier 21 in Halifax with his beautiful wife in September 1962. They originally settled in Toronto, where their daughter was born a year later. They bought their first home in Malton after the arrival of their son, and then in 1972, the family moved to Bramalea, where they raised their children and lived to this day. Herbert worked as a tool inspector for much of his life, providing a good life for his family. His garden was his passion, but he had many other interests, too. Herbert was an intelligent, articulate, artistic man, who loved to discuss history and politics over a good glass of wine – another passion. He also spoke several languages, wrote poetry, played the harmonica, and was a founding member of and sang in the Hansa Choir. Herbert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Brigitte, and his daughter Dagmar, both residing in Bramalea, and his son Oliver (Victoria) and grandsons Owen and Callum, residing in Oxford, Michigan. A celebration of his life will be held at the German Canadian Club Hansa (Hansa Haus), 6650 Hurontario St., Mississauga (www.hansahaus.org) on Saturday, May 5 at 2 p.m.
