Helen Smith
1939-2018
Helen Theresa Smith, age 79, of Glen Haven Manor, formerly of
New Glasgow, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018, in the Aberdeen
Hospital. Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Archibald
and Christina Catherine (Walsh) Boggs. She enjoyed knitting,
crocheting, going to bingo and T.O.P.S. She is survived by her
children: Roberta (Frank) Maas; Judy (Donald) Grady, both of
Antigonish; Jimmy, Banff, AB; Susan, Calgary, AB; Brenda (Leebret)
Smith, Aspen; Timmy (Elizabeth), Halifax; 16 grandchildren; 18 great
grandchildren; sisters: Dora Davidson, New Glasgow; Chris Rankin;
Isabel LeBlanc, both of Halifax; brothers: Jim (Margaret) Boggs, New
Brunswick; Bill (Karen) Boggs, Toronto, ON; Robert (Joyce) Boggs,
Halifax; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her
husband, Bert; son, Keith; sister, Edith MacPherson; brother, Alex.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Alzheimer Unit at Glen
Haven for their kindness, generosity and for looking after Helen.
Visitation 7-9 pm Thursday, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont
Ave., New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held at 11 am
Friday, with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in
Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations in her memory may be made to
the Alzheimer Society.
