Life Story for
Helen Marjorie Munro (Rairdan)
Helen Marjorie Munro was born April 3rd, 1926 to Albert and Isabelle Rairdan. She grew up on a farm NW of Stettler with her 6 brothers and 1 sister. Helen eventually moved to Red Deer to manage a bakery called the Sweet Shop. It was there she met Glen since he would often come in to supposedly visit his sister. They married after a year and settled in the Ardley district and then Red Deer before coming to Didsbury. There they raised 5 children. Besides managing the books for Glens’ machinery business, she always had a big garden. Helen helped bake for The Christian Women’s Club and often helped cater to many wedding and funerals through the WMS Group at the Missionary Church. The family often camped out west, always by a river. They enjoyed traveling as a couple and with family and friends. Their travels included Hawaii, The Maritimes, California, Belize and Pennsylvania. She always enjoyed family get-togethers as well as playing Rook with a group of friends they called “The Gang”. Helen was a Pioneer Girls Leader and worked for a short while at Campbell’s Food Store. After needing more care, they moved to the Sundre Lodge, then to Bethany Didsbury where we are thankful they always received loving care.
Helen leaves to mourn her loving husband Glen at Bethany Didsbury. Paddy and Irene Munro of Sundre, Donna Munro of Didsbury, Connie and Doug Luft of Didsbury, Kerry and Linda Munro of Carstairs and Barb Archer of Didsbury. Eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three grandsons.
Helen is also survived by a brother Ronald Rairdan, one brother-in law and two sister-in laws all of the Stettler area.
Helen was a loving and gentle soul, always kind and had a gift of hospitality. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
