Helen Doris Worthen
1929-2017
Mrs. Helen D. Worthen of North Head, Grand Manan, NB passed
away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on December 31, 2017 with
some of her family by her side.
Helen was born in Back Bay, NB, the daughter of the late
Clayton and Martha (French) Brown.
Helen was widowed at an early age, leaving her to bring up
eight young children on her own. Times were very hard, and she made
sure the family would not be separated because of her situation. Helen
worked extremely hard, and could stretch a dollar farther than most.
She was a member of the North Head Wesleyan Church until it closed one
year ago.
Helen is survived by three daughters; Linda Guptill (Michael)
of North Head, Charlene Jackson (Jeffery) of Orrington, Maine, Karen
Worthen of Moncton, five sons; Larry Worthen of North Head, Keven
Worthen of North Head, Douglas Worthen, of Castalia, Norris Worthen
(Lorraine) of North Head and Karl Worthen (Tammy) of North Head,
fourteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and one just
waiting to be born, one sister Mary Parker of Oshawa, ON, one sister
in law, Marjorie Lutes of Moncton, many nieces, and
nephews.
Helen is predeceased by her parents, her husband Sidney
Worthen, and two sisters’ baby Lois and Rowena
Tucker.
Visiting will take place at The North
Head Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm
and the funeral Service will be from the church on Thursday January 4,
2018 at 11:00 am.
Helen’s family have requested donations be made in her memory
to The Grand Manan Hospital Foundation or to the donor’s
choice.
