Downey, Helen Bernadette (nee Thompson)
Peacefully on Monday, April 16th, 2018 at age 91. Beloved spouse of the late John Kevin Downey. Dear mother of Catherine (Paul Benoit), Michael (Carol Weeks), Stephen (Sutherland) and Ann (Terry Deugo). Loving Nanny of Sarah, Ted (Emilie) and Andy (Laura); Alexandra, Roman and Saul; and Danielle. Great grandmother of Osha, Aislin, Beatrice, Seeger, Dahlia and Hugo. Survived by her sister Joan Soutar. Predeceased by her siblings Betty Bruce and Jim and Bernard Thompson. She was an extraordinary Mother, a Champion bowler, a wonderful skier in her youth and always very active in her community and church. Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road) on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church 153 Woodroffe Avenue on Saturday, April 21st at 11am. Reception to follow. Private interment, Notre Dame Cemetery.
