He was much loved by his 13 grandchildren; Matthew Hesser (Kerry McCann), Jillian Glousher, Tanya (Marc) Lazor, Jeffery Glousher (Mary Frances Frayne), Mallory (Matt Summerfield) , Julia, Alexa, Jacob, Olivia and Sydney and two great grandchildren Sofia Jeffery Garza and Rosie Glousher. He will be forever remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. Harold was predeceased by his parents John Jeffery (BHC) and Evaline (Ellacott) and his sister Eleanor Seltzer and her husband William Seltzer, sister-in-laws Sharon (Jack) Cook and Karen Butler. Harold is survived by one sister-in-law Joan Milner. Harold lived his entire life in Goderich and as a young boy began helping his father build homes and cottages in the Goderich area. In 1947 he joined his father in founding John Jeffery and Son Planing Mill and Builders Supply at 163 Elgin Avenue. In the beginning the company manufactured sashes, doors, kitchen cupboards and vanities, moulding and other custom made items. The expanding retail business and demand for specialty work soon required full time attention, custom home building was halted, and the business became John Jeffery and Son Building Supplies a banner that Harold continued to work under until the last post. Harold played guitar and was a trombonist with the Sundowners and in the Goderich Laketown Band. He built the first structure, a precursor to the existing band shell in Harbour Park, when the idea of Sunday night concerts was first conceived. He and his First Mate Norma and his four deckhands, were fixtures of the Goderich Sailing club in Snug Harbour and later at the Inlet Marina in their sailboat Felicity. Harold was never without a book in hand. His favourite subjects being history and nautical tales. He particularly enjoyed reading all of Samuel Pepys diaries and delighted in sharing the naughty exploits of the 17th century bad boy. Harold instilled the love of reading and books to his whole family.
