Hansen Erik ‘the Viking’ January 26th 2018

Hansen, Erik ‘the Viking’
January 26th, 2018
July 17th, 1925 – January 26th, 2018
Born in Esbjerg, Denmark, Erik was the only son of the late Otto and Andrea Hansen. Beloved husband of Benny (Thogersen – 2009). Loving father of Kjeld (Ilze), Ken and Berit (Walter Lys). Grandfather of 9 and great-grandfather of 11. Erik lived in Denmark for his first 32 years, except for the 3 years he served with the British Army (1946 – 1948). After the army term, Erik ran a successful taxi business in Denmark. Erik brought his family to Canada in 1957 settling in Toronto, and later moving to Brampton, Peterborough and, finally, to London. Wherever he lived, he had lots of friends. Erik was an auto mechanic by trade but later became a stationary engineer working for the North York Board of Education. He loved to camp in a tent, and later in a trailer; enjoyed fishing; and, upon retirement, Erik took up golfing. As per Erik’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No public visitation or funeral will occur. Private interment of ashes will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Mount Hope for their care and compassion in tending to Dad. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
