1929-2018
Hales Henry Smith was born in 1929 and entered his
eternal reward on Sunday, October 14th, 2018 at the age of
89.
Born in New Bandon, he was the son of the late
Arthur and Reta (Jagoe)
Smith.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years,
Dorothy (Hornibrook) Smith.
His children, Marilyn Smith, Nancy Scott (Barry),
Preston Smith (Donna), Ellen Wood (Bradley), Joyce Rae, Mark Smith
(Sherry) and Mary-Jane Smith.
Also, by 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren;
One sister Leona Smith; Two brothers, Arthur Jr. Smith (Melba) and
Harry Smith (Timmie) and several nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Harper Smith and
by sisters Neta Hicks, Rhoda Scott, Twila Ayer, Shirley Ayer and Betty
Miller.
Hales was an employee of the former Smurfit Stone
Pulp and Paper Mill for over 36 years. He was also a
commercial lobster fisherman, a farmer and a woodsman. Hales
was an avid gardener. He was a faithful member of Bayview
Pentecostal
Church.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018
from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), 187 St. George St,
Bathurst. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning
at 11 am from Evangel Pentecostal Church, 150 Basin Road,
Bathurst. A private internment will be held in the
Stonehaven New Bandon Union
Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Hales may be made to a
charity of the donor’s choice. Many thanks to all
who showed love and care to the family during this difficult
time.
