Obituary for Gwendolyn Jessie MacKay Warren
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gwen on December 19, 2018. Lovingly remembered by her children Spencer, Melissa and Morgan. Predeceased by her brother John (Jack) Allen MacKay. Survived by her three sisters. Gwen was a proud graduate of the Hamilton General School of Nursing, Class of 1948 A. During her nursing career she worked in Hamilton, Buffalo, Miami, Dallas, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle. For five years she was a Head Floor Nurse at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She enjoyed her many years as a member of the Tyandaga Golf Club and the Burlington Curling Club. She was very involved with the Girl Guides of Canada in Burlington in the 1960’s and 1970’s, eventually becoming District Commissioner. Gwen was a woman of keen intelligence with a compassionate heart and an indomitable spirit. She will be forever missed. A private service has been held.
