Obituary Overview
Grace Evelyn Spence
Grace Evelyn Christie Spence
July 3, 1946 – January 31, 2018
Grace passed away at the age of 71 with
family at her side.
She was predeceased by her parents Duncan
and Evelyn Christie.
She is survived by her husband Sandy, sons,
Jamie (Crystal), Michael (Lindsay) and daughter Tyler (Neil), grandchildren,
Shaye, Cole, Neil, Seth, Ethan, Nolan, Faith, Norah and Sadie, brothers,
Duncan, Jim (Elly), Ross (Ellen) and many nieces and nephews.
Grace and Sandy were married in 1966 while
she was still working for the Toronto Dominion Bank. They lived their first 4 years in Highway
Gardens Trailer Park in Lockport. She quit
work to have their first child Jamie, they then moved to Rupertsland Blvd.
where Grace grew up and they still live today.
After the children grew up, she started
working at the J.A. Hildes Northern Medical Unit in 1992. During her stay there, she was seconded by
the Federal Government to work with F.N.I.H.B. for 2 years. She retired from the N.M.U. in 2010.
Her summers were spent with friends, family
and all the neighbors at their cottage in Beausejour where everyone would
gather at the Spence’s cabin on the Brokenhead River.
Grace’s passion for baking was cherished by
everyone who knew her. She had a fun
loving spirit that was an inspiration to all.
Her energy, laughter and love to organize and host parties was her way
of sharing with all those she loved.
Although she succumbed to her illness of
Lewey Body Dementia, she fought right until the very end. Everyone that knew Grace would best describe
her as Graceful, Gracious and Grateful.
For our family, Grace’s death leaves a
heartache that no one can heal, but our love for her leaves a memory no one can
steal.
