Mines/Truro. It is with saddened hearts, the family of the late Grace
Amelia McCully, announce her passing on Friday, September 27, 2018, at
the age of 90. Born in Lornevale, she was a daughter of the late
William Dean and Mary Cook (Ayer) Scott.
Grace lived in Truro for 30 years and then moved to
Beatty’s family home in East Mines in 1980. She attended
Immanuel Baptist Church, Truro, for 55 years. She loved when her
family would come home from Ontario for visits and she took pride in
being a great host. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake
goodies for her family, enjoyed knitting and crocheting and absolutely
loved the Toronto Blue Jays and watched all of their games; many will
remember seeing Grace wearing her beloved Blue Jays hat. At the age of
65, she fulfilled a life-long dream of learning to
swim.
Grace was the last surviving member of her immediate family
and is survived by her daughter, Sharon Diane Croft (Gary), Valley;
son-in-law, Jim Christie, Mississauga, Ontario; twin grandsons, Donald
Scott Christie, Toronto, Ontario; James Robert Christie, Mississauga,
Ontario; “Grammie Grace” to Danielle Morrow, Camden
and Nicholas Morrow, Lower Onslow; many dear nieces and nephews. Along
with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years,
Robert Beatty McCully; daughter, Janice Mary Christie (May 2014); son,
Robert Scott McCully in infancy; siblings, Stella Scott (Age 11),
Hattie Simpson, Lena Rushton, Florence Pringle, William Scott, Harding
Scott, Robert Scott, Herbert Scott, Frank Scott.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Grace’s
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2018,
and funeral service 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2018, Reverend Cory
Somers officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Folly Village
Cemetery, 983 Highway 2, Glenholme. Family flowers only. If so
desired, donations in Grace’s memory to Prostate Cancer
Canada or Breast Cancer Research Foundation are welcomed. Private
