After the death of his mother when he was three years old, he was brought up by his grandparents, Henry and Grace Burton in Weymouth Mills, Digby County, NS. Gordon’s work career was interesting and varied. As soon as one job came to a end he was out looking for a new adventure. He received his Interprovincial Carpenter’s license and his Grade 12NS. He was most proud of being part of the construction of the Annapolis Tidal Power Project and the Crosskill Court Senior’s Apartments at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. When he was forced to stop work because of poor health he passed his time washing dishes, and drinking coffee at the Lawrencetown Restaurant, building picnic tables and mowing people’s lawns. Gordon has always been known for his kindness, smile and sense of humor as well as his willingness to give a hand to anyone when needed. Gordon is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wendy (Blynn); son, Bruce (Dee); daughters, Kimberly (Bruce) Mailman and Deana (Scott) Fitzgerald; grandsons, Nicholas, Gregory, Adam and Alex Mailman, Daniel and Brayden Fitzgerald; special granddaughter, Tara (Stewart) and grandson, David and very special great grandson, August; sister, Jeanette MacLaren; mother-in-law, Frances Blynn; sisters-in-law, Judy MacDonald, Cheryl Blynn and Josephine Blynn; aunts, Iris McCann, Vera Cosman, and Arlene Burton and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
