In Loving Memory
Glen Nichols, beloved husband of Patricia, of Langdon, Alberta, passed away at home on October 27, 2018 at the age of 81 years. Glen was the loving father of Dale of Langdon, Darlene (Mark) of Calgary, and Dennis (Tara) of Langdon. He will also be dearly missed by his six grandchildren Michael, Braydon, Caitlin (Garrett), Hunter, Kyle (Ariel) and Brianna, and one great grandchild Ava as well as his dog Sammy. Glen was predeceased by his parents Ada and Clifton Nichols, his brothers Eddy, Ralph, Walter and Earl, and his sister Irene. Glen was born in Langdon and grew up on the farm west of Langdon. He was schooled in Bennett, met Patricia in 1957 and they married in 1962, celebrating 56 years of marriage this past summer. They moved from Calgary back to the farm in 1973 where he built the family home. In 2000 they moved to Langdon. He worked as a Sanitation Engineer, City of Calgary for 30 years and then joined Pat at the cafeteria in the Amoco Building for a few years before they both retired in 1998. Glen enjoyed camping for many years at Green Acres, Pine Lake and Country Lane RV Park in Aldersyde. He was very talented at woodworking, making all kinds of different animals and holiday decorations. Later on in life, he grew to love putting together puzzles, crosswords and word searches. He was an avid Flames and Stamps fan and loved working in the yard and garden.
A Celebration of Glen’s Life will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home (Prairie View Chapel, 1605—100 Street SE, Calgary) on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm. There will be a visitation prior to the service between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the OK Club of Langdon or the Alzheimer Society of Canada (20 Eglinton Ave. West, 16th Floor, Toronto, ON M4R 1K8).
