Retired employee of Ross Pope and Company
The family announces with sorrow her passing on Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Timmins
and District Hospital at the age of 91. Beloved wife to the late Vernon Smith (2017). Loving
mother of Noreen (Lenny Mennella), Howard, Colleen (David McInroy), and Arnold (Deborah Gorman). Cherished grandmother of Jonathan McInroy, Michael McInroy (Alina Smith), Kyle Smith, Adam Smith (Keira Squire) and Colin Smith. Sister-in-law to Don McNeil. Dear aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, William (Bill) and Winifred (nee Bradley) Irving; her brother John and sister-in law Helen Irving; aunt Verlie (Henry) Tommila; aunt Frances (James) Moyle; and her cousins she considered siblings- Doug (Buster), Lenny, Dick, Jimmy Moyle and Dorothy Moyle Novak. Predeceased by her father and mother in-law Martin and Janet (Aitchison) Smith; sisters and brothers in law Freda (Bill) McLeod; Lloyd (Mary) Smith; Garth (Doris) Smith; Velma McKay and Myrna McNeil.
The family wishes to acknowledge the kindness and compassion provided to Gladys by
Barry and Joan Tremblay, Kathy Moyle, Marg Roberts Rochefort; the staff and volunteers
at the Chateau Georgian Residence; and to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Timmins and District
Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at Covenant
United Church in the spring. Remembrance donations to Covenant United Church or to a charity
of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
