It is with broken hearts that we announce the
passing of our mom, Gladys Rose (MacAulay) Dawson on Saturday, March
10th, 2018. Just short of her
90th Birthday, she passed away
peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Sydney but
had resided in Marion Bridge the past couple of years, Gladys was the
daughter of the late William and Christina (Kelly)
MacAulay.
Mom was a retired school teacher. She loved her
students, especially the grade Primarys and it showed in her
classrooms. Between her multi coloured desks, the sandbox and her
beautiful window paintings at Argyle School, her artistic talent
really shone through. Mom spent many a summers at Ben Eoin Beach with
her friends and family. She looked forward to it every year. She also
loved her road trips with her good friend, Betty Webber and
many Sunday afternoons were spent in the Pier
visiting the Cipak’s and eating all Aunt Aggie’s
delicious meals.
Mom was a beautiful person inside and out and
loved her family. She is survived by her son, Thomas (Tara) Dawson of
Sydney and daughter, Kelly Rose (Billy) Webber of
Marion Bridge. Her five Grandchildren; Brittney (Dennis), Nicole
(Stephen), Spencer, Courtney (Mark), Brett, her brother-in-law Ronnie
(Patsy) Dawson, Hamilton, sister-in-law Sheilagh MacAulay, Halifax and
many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by
the love of her life Thomas (Chick) Dawson, Sister Mary (Kenny)
MacDonald, Brother Billy MacAulay, sister-in-law Agnes (Michael) Cipak
and brother- in-law James (Jean) Dawson.
Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial
Chapel, Wednesday March 14th from 12-2
pm with funeral service to follow directly after. Rev. Thomas Whent

date.
The family would like to express our heart felt
thanks to Mom’s caregivers, Debbie Barnes and Cindy Selvet,

would also like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of the
Palliative Care Unit for making mom comfortable throughout her
journey.
