Obituary of Gertrude (Trudy) Brands
Peacefully passed away with family at her side at Brampton Civic Hospital on Sunday, August 12, 2018. Trudy Brands (nee Van Luyk) of Brampton and formerly of Stroud and the Holland Marsh at 84 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Michael Brands. Loving mother of Winn (Gary) Rothon, Marian (Chuck) Mankinen and Michele (Rob) Hovius. Proud Oma of Daryl (Lisa), Melanie, Ashley; Nicolaas (Kaetlyn), Mathew, Karina; Dustin (Cara), Nicole (Dustin), Jamie (Lyneia), Melissa and Joshua. Cherished Great Oma of Ainsley, Lucas, Veda and Emmett. Dear sister of late Art (late Margaret) Van Luyk, Irene (Jacob) Winter, Willy (Hank) Prins and Peter Van Luyk. Trudy will also be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Friends may be received at SKWARCHUK FUNERAL HOME, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford (1-800-209-4803) for visitation on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 1 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford. In Trudy’s memory, donations may be made to the cbm Canada (Christian Blind Mission) or to Samaritan’s Purse Canada.
