Geraldine’s Obituary
It is with great that the families of Geraldine (Gerry) Briand announce her passing on October 13th, 2018, at the age of 65 years. Geraldine was born in Buchan’s, Newfoundland to Patrick and Mary Taylor.
Geraldine met and married David Briand (Sr.) of Cape Breton Nova Scotia, while he was posted at CFB Gander and together raised a son; David, and daughter; Deninne. She was further blessed with two grandchildren; Samuel (Sammy), and David (Davey), whom she loved and enjoyed spending time with. She was predeceased by her father; Patrick Taylor, mother; Mary Taylor, sisters; Margaret Barker, Regina Marie Ball, and Frances Bemister.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband; David (Sr.), son; David (Kate), and daughter; Deninne, her precious grandchildren; Sammy and Davey, sisters; Bridget Ann Barker, Alexius (Ken) Soady, Eileen Taylor, Andrea (Rick) McNair, brothers; Pat Taylor, Michael (Donna) Taylor, and Dennis (Carmel) Taylor, many nieces, nephews, wonderful friends and acquaintances.
Geraldine had a very full and active life. She worked at various jobs throughout her time. She was an accountant, a swim instructor and examiner, a barber, and a teacher. She also opened and operated a restaurant/coffee bar with a close friend. She loved the outdoors, especially walking on trails with her beloved dog and cross-country skiing. She was an amazing wife, mother, and friend to all she met.
The family will be receiving family and friends at St.Theresa’s Roman Catholic Parish, on Church Street, Buchan’s NL, on Friday, October 26th, 2018 from 11:00 am. Until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. With interment to follow at the Buchan’s Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Geraldine’s memory would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL.
