Gerald “Gerry” E. Sowers
May 14, 1934 – March 26, 2018
A resident of Chatham, ON and formerly of Fredericton, NB, Gerry Sowers passed away at the Riverview Gardens on Monday, March 26, 2018 at the age of 83 years. Born on May 14, 1934 in Mouth of Keswick, NB, Gerry was the son of the late Charles and Velma (Hawkins) Sowers.

Gerry worked as an Engineering Technologist for the Department of Highways for 36 years. He loved golfing and curling, and enjoyed his membership at the Mactaquac Golf Course. He spent many summers out at the lake with his family. Shortly after his retirement, Gerry and Barb moved to Ontario to be closer to their son, Kevin and his family, where they became members of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Gerry was the beloved husband for 57 years of Barbara Sowers (nee Johnson); loving father to Kevin Sowers (Patsy) of Chatham, ON; proud papa to Kaylee and Brett Sowers; dear brother to Wanita Briggs, Glenwood Sowers (Mildred), Dianna LaPointe, Joyce Yeats (Gary), Shirley Anne Curtis and John Sowers (Judy); also missed by several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ron Sowers.

There will be a Memorial Service at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11am with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. For those who wish, remembrance may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
