It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of George Cox, age 69, on May 3rd, 2018 at the Glace Bay General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, George was the son of the late George and Helen (Jolley) Cox.
He enjoyed playing golf, and above all, he loved and cherished spending time with his family. He also was a man of strong faith. He was a former employee of Nova Scotia Power Inc.
George is survived by his loving wife, Theresa (Ulrich); son, David, Edmonton; daughter-in-law, Belinda, Morinville, and daughter, Michelle (Adam) Hooper, Glace Bay; as well as cherished grandchildren, Ryan Cox, Carley McMullin, Nicholas and Brooke Hooper.
He is survived by his brother, Bernie (Ruth); sisters, Helen (Fabe) MacKinnon and Agnes Hickman; and many nieces and nephews.
George was predeceased by his brother, Bill; sister, Frances (Ogilivie) and nephews, Allan Hickman, Kevin MacKinnon, and Paul Cox.
No visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 8, at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay, with a reception to follow in the church hall, Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
