Obituary for George Vanderwerf
Passed away peacefully at the Bridlewood Manor on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the age of 91 years. Beloved husband of Nel (Stapper) Heyman, the late Grace Pater and the late Pietertje Kloosterman. He is survived by his children, Grace Wilman, Cory Vanderwerf, John (Margaret) Vanderwerf, Alice Vanderwerf, Walter (Ellen) Vanderwerf, and Peter (Cynthia) Vanderwerf. Dearly missed by his grandchildren, Bill (Sandy), Kevin (Vikki), Derrick (Robin Borst), Phil, Jake, Liz, Deb, Rose, Bethany, Stephen, David, Becca, and Rachael. Sadly missed by five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; by his brother Kornelis (Ankje) and sisters-in-law Aukje and Tineke. Fondly remembered by Nel’s children, Joanne Heyman-Kane (Derek), Cindy Patterson (Max), Allan (Susan) Heyman, Bert (Sandra) Heyman, and Rick Heyman; by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers Sybren, Jan, Abraham, Johannes and Feije Vanderwerf.
A ceremony celebrating George’s life will be held at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 117 Windsor Dr., Brockville on Friday, January 19th at 11am. Interment to follow at Oakland Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Loaves and Fishes Brockville will be gratefully acknowledged.
