George Geoffrey (Geoff) Goodwin
It is with profound sadness that the family of Geoff Goodwin announces his passing.
Geoff was born the youngest of 4 children to Joseph Thomas and Irene Goodwin on January 29th, 1937 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
Geoff was the proud father of 6 children, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, all who will miss him dearly. He would tell anyone who asked about his family “I have one of everything”.
After starting his first career as a printer in Edmonton, he would move his family to Red Deer in 1972 to open the first of many businesses he would own.
Drag racing was truly his passion and remained that way until his passing.
Geoff was a legend in the drag racing community and was involved in many ways. In 2008 he was inducted into the Canadian Motor Sports Hall of Fame and in 2016 the Drag Racing Hall of Fame.
In 1996 Geoff entered the hotel and bar business and would remain in the hospitality industry until the end of 2010.
Geoff lived a full and passionate life, impacting many lives along the way and always a true gentleman. He lived life large, loved lots and most of all “he did it his way”.
Geoff is predeceased by his wife, Heather and his eldest son, Gerry. He is survived by his children, Dianne Goodwin (Hart), Tom Goodwin, Shelley Milhousen (Greg), Christine Chapman, Robert Goodwin and daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Goodwin. Grandchildren; Clinton (Janel), McKenzie, Whitney, Brittney, Taylor-Anne, Cameron and Brody. Great grandchildren; Chase, Madelyn and Charlie.
Funeral services will be held at Crossroads Church, 38105 Range Road 275, Red Deer County, AB on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
