George “Gale” Holroyd was born in Lethbridge, Alberta to Eleanor Katherine (Moffat) and Dean Edward Holroyd. He was raised in Warner, Alberta on the family farm, which was originally settled by his grandfather. After graduating from the Warner Consolidated School, he attended the University of Alberta in the Faculty of Agriculture. He joined John Deere Canada in 1963 as a territory manager, and married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Mae (Morton), on July 18, 1964. Gale is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Bev, his children Dean (Jill), Jayna (Howard Bolinger), Kevin (Sue), his 8 well-loved grandchildren, and his brother Gary (Dinny).
Gale loved to spend time with his grandkids, watch the birds in his back yard, golf, fish, build things in his workshop, and travel everywhere and anywhere. He enjoyed visiting with the many friends that he made, while living in Warner, Calgary, Edmonton, Grand Prairie, Kelowna, Dauphin, Regina and Abbottsford. Gale was very committed to every community he lived in. During his life, he was a Lion, Rotarian, served on the Mountain District council with Scouts Canada in Manitoba, and was an active member of the United Church. Gale was proud of the agriculture industry he worked in throughout his career. In addition to a house full of John Deere green, he spent time on the Agriculture Implement Association Executive, including a term as President.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Woodcliff United Church in Calgary. Gale was an organ donor, so please take the time to fill in your donor card.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of George Gale Holroyd December 29th 2017.source
