Obituary for George David Arthur Moody
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of George Moody peacefully at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg on Jan 11, 2018 . He was a much loved husband and father . George was predeceased by his wife Barbara , son Gregory, mother Mrs. Irene Sandage (Moody, Sutherland) stepfather Mr. Allen Sandage .
George leaves to mourn his passing, daughter Evelyn and son in law Tim Berman, sister Duane Gloria Moody .
Born Feb 18, 1934 in Vilna Alberta , George attended public and high school in Manitou, Manitoba. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a ( BSC) general in 1954 on June 1, 1954. He joined the Meteorological Service of Canada and completed courses in meteorology at the University of Toronto and at the Canadian Forces Base Trenton . He worked for the Federal Government for 35 plus years as a meteorologist at a number of locations through his career ; Goose Bay Labrador, Montreal , Winnipeg . He then worked for Bombardier Inc. for 2 years as a meteorological instructor at Portage La Prairie.
In 1955 George married Barbara Berry and in this marriage 2 children were born ; Gregory and Evelyn. George enjoyed his family, golf, gardening , fishing , curling, sports and news.
George was struck with cancer in 2014 and met this challenge with courage.
The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the Doctor and staff on Ward 2 south of the Grace Hospital . George also received great care with the Doctor and nurses at HSC and Cancer Care Manitoba .
As requested by George, cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave (across from Brookside Cemetery) with interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
