George Clarence Tulk
1931-2018
In demonstrating strength and endurance in both body and
spirit until his final moments, George Clarence Tulk went home at last
on June 22 after 87 years. As he was embraced by wife Joan (nee Locke)
of 58 years and devoted daughter Debbie (Horace) Mouland, George
joined his dearly departed parents, Walter and Pearl Tulk, infant
sister Mary, brothers Raymond (Edith) and Maurice (Jean), sister Joan
(Donald Ford), and nephews Dean Ford and Michael Wicks. Among the many
hearts that are forever full with George’s kindness are granddaughter
Charity (Rick) Robicheau with new great-granddaughter Sadie Georgia
(born June 11, 2018), granddaughter Carolyn Mouland, brother Jim
(Sandra), and sister Bonnie (Wilson) Wicks, and special cousin Lucy.
Across all generations and during any season, George always cherished
opportunities to share his favourite places to fish, chop wood, and
hunt with a long line of treasured nephews, nieces, cousins, and
friends. The lives of family, friends, and strangers alike have also
been enriched by his wide range of skills and diverse experience as an
outdoorsman, in addition to his sharp cardplaying and his lovingly
handcrafted furniture. With steady feet and able hands, be it on the
water or in the woods, salt water and fresh air were the elements that
George immersed himself in as much for hard work as for fruitful
pleasure. Born and bred in Jackson’s Arm, George was a fixture in the
community. Beyond his diligent and detailed work in plumbing and
heating, which expanded into a variety store together with Joan,
George warmed and brightened everyone around him with his good nature
and integrity. George’s life will be celebrated on Sunday, June 24
with visitation at St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church in Jackson’s Arm
from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm, followed by funeral
service at 11:00 am on Monday June 25. Many thanks to Dr.
Lafferty and the nursing team for their attentive and considerate care
at Western Memorial Regional Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit, where
donations in lieu of flowers will be graciously received.
