Gary Wayne Cochrane
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Gary Wayne Cochrane on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Portage General Hospital. Gary was born in Central Butte, Saskatchewan on October 28th, 1941 passing in Portage la Prairie, MB, December 27th, 2017.
Gary worked hard all his life to provide for his family. On his own by the age of 16, he did what he needed to, providing a home for himself and family. He began as a truck driver out of Poplar Point, where he met his wife Gail Jadeske. He moved onto a lengthy career with MTS telephone until he was forced into an early retirement when the company privatized.
Gary came from a large family. His mother passed in a devastating fire when he was young. Gary worked at neighbouring farms at the age of 14 and his father passed in 1967, shortly after the birth of Gary’s daughter Kim. Gary’s siblings: Glenn, Ken, Bev, Trevor, David, Dwight and the youngest Gordon whom he deeply regrets not raising when his father passed, but was sadly unable to except an additional child due to family hardships trying to support his own young family.
Gary leaves behind his wife Gail Marie-Anne Cochrane, after 52 solid and loving years of marriage and his daughter Kimberly Dawn Marschall and son in-law Peter Marschall of West St. Paul.
As per his wishes, there will be no service to mark his passing. Any memorial donations may be made in his name to P.A.W.S or any animal shelter of your choice to support his never-ending love and rescue of animals.
