DEMERCHANT, GARY FRANKLIN HENRY
The passing of Gary Franklin Henry DeMerchant of Fredericton, NB, husband of Carol (Morrow) DeMerchant occurred on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
Born on January 18, 1942 in Bairdsville, NB, he was the son of the late Borden and Phyllis (Taylor) DeMerchant.
Gary began teaching at Southern Victoria High School in 1967 and retired as Vice Principal in 1996. He had many interests and hobbies which included photography, genealogy, crafts, painting, carving and many more.
He will be remembered as a lifelong learner.
Gary’s greatest pleasure was raising his five children with his wife Carol.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, Gary is survived by his daughters, Angela Coffey (Robert) of Silverwood, NB; Tara Marriott (Danny) of Trenton, ON and Susan DeMerchant (Belinda Gillis) of Fredericton, NB; sons, David DeMerchant (Crystal) of Georgetown, ON and Ryan DeMerchant (Lisa) of Upper Kingsclear, NB; grandchildren, Alicia (Scott), Ashley (Nick), Alexandra (Chris), Courteney, Chloe, Sophie, Kyle and Joshua; great grandchildren, Ava and Lily; sisters, Carol Johnston (Eugene) of Easton, ME and Rita Rattray of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Ellsworth DeMerchant.

At Gary’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton SPCA or the Lung Association.
