Garnet Merrill Crouse
1942-2018
Garnet Merrill Crouse – age 76, of Kentville, passed away
Sunday November 11, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
Born in Canning, he was the son of the late Merrill and Pansy (Steele)
Crouse. He had many different jobs in his lifetime; some of them
included owning Crouse’s Irving, Lucky Star Taxi, and he
drove a school bus for WC Rooney Transportation for many years. In
1985, he joined the Kentville Fire Department and served as a member
for a few years, enjoying the evenings he called Bingo at the hall. In
the immediate years prior to his retirement, he took pride in being a
crossing guard for Aldershot Elementary School. He was also a foster
parent to many children over the years. He is survived by his wife,
Bessie (Kane); her children, David (Lauralee) Hines, Kentville; and
Andrew (Teresa) Hines, Lakeville; his daughters, Sherri (Rick)
Weisner, Sheffield Mills; Joy Crouse (Adam), New Minas; Chastity
Crouse (JD), New Minas; Elisha Crouse, Wolfville; son, Cory Crouse
(Donna), Kentville; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandson. He is also
survived by his sister, Marie (Douglas) Weir, Kentville; and nieces
and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth (Dill)
Crouse; and his son, Jeffrey Crouse. The family would like to thank
the hospital staff of Medical B, the stroke team, the surgical unit,
the palliative care team, and the VON home care staff for the
excellent care and compassion they provided Garnet and his loved ones
over the short time he was ill. Visitation will take place on Friday
November 16, 2018 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral
Home, Kentville. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November
17, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in First Cornwallis Baptist Church, Upper
Canard, with Pastor Stephen Wheaton officiating. A reception will be
held back at the church following a burial in the Hillaton Cemetery,
Hillaton. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be
made to First Cornwallis Baptist Church or CAREY ME – Valley
Regional Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted
to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
