Fred Swanson was called to heaven on Saturday, January 27, 2018.
Fred was born August 14, 1921. He was the fourth of five children and the first of his siblings to be born in Canada to George and Emelia Swanson, Swedish immigrants who arrived to the Ponoka area in 1920. Fred worked as a plumber/gas fitter in Ponoka at Stickle Plumbing and then for the Samson Band until his retirement in 1986. He was a founding member of The Church of the Open Bible and was devoted to the local Church for over 60 years.
Fred was predeceased by his wife Iris (2017); his brothers John (1993) and Axel (1997); and his sisters Astrid (1929) and Alice (2003). He leaves to mourn his son Buck Swanson (Marianne); daughters Lois Hilsabeck (Dave) and Melody Casselman (Dan); his grandchildren Marcie Fenske (James), Kurtis Hilsabeck (Kayla), Jodi Hopkins (Grant), Kenton Hilsabeck (Michelle), Dawn Casselman, and Daniel Casselman; six great grandchildren; brother-in-law George Petry (Pat); as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Church of the Open Bible at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018.
