Francis “Frank” Charles Gillis M.A.
Francis
“Frank” C. Gillis M.A., 75, of Dieppe, passed away
peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Born
in Edmundston, he was the son of the late John and Marie (McCabe)
Gillis.
Frank Gillis
was a published poet, with two collections to his credit: “The
Hitchhiker” and “The Sensualist”. He was also
well-travelled, having served his country as a Canadian NGO
representative in Nigeria, Thailand and Vietnam, a Canadian Diplomat
in Ethiopia and Jordan and as the Chief of Mission of the
International Organization of Migration programme in the
Philippines.
Frank will
be sadly missed by his wife of 40 years, Dr. Maria C. Hernandez-Gillis
of Moncton; daughter, Katrina M. Gillis of Vancouver, BC; sons, Sean
Gillis (Vanessa) of Moncton and Francis J. Gillis Jr. (Andreina Pulido
Rozo) of Bogata, Colombia; granddaughter, Brooklyn Maria Gillis;
sisters, Betty Ann Gillis (Rick Leitman) of Ottawa, ON and Cathy
Gillis (Steve Ross) of Canmore, AB; brother Richard Gillis (Nancy) of
Miramichi and several nieces, nephews and extended family
members.
Respecting
Frank’s wishes, there will be no visitation hours or funeral
service.
Arrangements
under the professional care of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain
Road, Moncton (858-1995).
