Dykens,
Frances Elizabeth, 87 of the Valley View Villa, Riverton formerly of
Stellarton passed away peacefully December 11, 2018 in the Aberdeen
Hospital.
Born in
Stellarton she was a daughter of the late Francis and Eva
(Weeks)Weeks.
Frances
was a resident of the villa the past 2 months having previously
resided in Stellarton for some 14 years, prior to that, she resided in
New Glasgow. She worked for many years in the Housekeeping
Department at the Aberdeen Hospital. She was an avid bowler
having bowled in the Thursday Night Ladies league for almost 50 years,
and bowled the last Thursday night before her passing. She
was a mother to everyone, her door being always open, a cup of tea for
everyone. She enjoyed making her fudge and fruitcakes at
Christmas.
She is
survived by her children: Thelma(Donnie), Riverton; Neil(Marilyn),
Four Mile Brook; Billy Chaulk, Trenton; Dawn(Kevin), Pictou Landing;
Darlene(Gary), Westville; Stacey(John), PEI; Jason(Alicia), Riverton;
11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers: Ernie Weeks(Marg),
Mulgrave; Jimmy Weeks, Mt. Thom; sisters: Doris Aikens(Mel), Riverton;
Margie Aikens(Jimmy), Plymouth; many nieces and
nephews.
She was
predeceased by her husband Malcolm Neil “Dyke” Dykens, a son
Kenny, brothers Donnie and Frankie in infancy.
Her
remains will rest at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton
for visiting from 2-4 and 7-9pm Thursday. Private family
burial will take place in the Christ Anglican Cemetery on
Friday.
Family
flowers only. Donations in memory of Frances may be made to
the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the New Glasgow
Youth Bowling Program.
