Obituary
On October 20 our lives were changed forever – the passing of our sweet Grandma and mother Margaret “Elaine’ Ford. Elaine was predeceased by her husband of 55 years James “Donald” Ford, and she leaves behind her brother in-law Charles (Carole) Ford, and her children Doug (Joann) and Steve (Rachelle) and her six grandchildren: Megan, Bradley, Stephanie, Connor, Ryan and Sydney.
Family meant the world to Elaine – and some of her proudest moments were becoming a grandma 6 times. Her face always lit up when you spoke of them and how they were doing. She spent countless hours baking with all of them, playing school and walking in the great outdoors.
Elaine was born in Fort Langley where her family lived and her grandfather managed the Fort. They lived on a farm, and to this day many of the main streets in Fort Langley are named after family members.
Elaine moved to Powell River to teach at the Old Henderson School in 1958. After working a couple of years she travelled to Europe with her mom for a summer exploring and when she returned that fall to teach she met Don. They were married in 1963, built a new home for themselves and then started a family.
It was at that point working became a thing of the past and Elaine spent the rest of her adult life volunteering for the PR Health Care Auxiliary with her passion being the Economy Shop. Elaine spent countless hours, pricing clothing, washing clothes, organizing the Christmas corner, organizing the bazaar and was also involved in 2 moves as the shop changed location. In 2017 they awarded her with 35+ years pin and an honorary member – “the shop” holds some very fond memories for Elaine.
Many thanks to the staff at ECU and Doctor Danielle Marentette – we could not have done this without all of you.
A celebration will be held on November 3 at 1:30 at the Cranberry’s Senior Centre.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Ford Margaret Elaine August 13 1935
