Obituary of Florence PIXLEY
It is with great sadness that the family of Florence Pixley announce her passing on January 16, 2018 at the age of 83 years.
Florence was born in a small farming community outside Hazlet, Saskatchewan. At the age of 11, the family moved back to their homeland in Gloucestershire, England for a brief period before returning to farm in the Edson, Alberta area, then settling in the farming community just east of Innisfail. Florence went to Red Deer Composite high school where she fell in love and married Laurence. Flo and Larry moved to Calgary to start their married life when Larry joined the Calgary City Police force. After leaving the force, Flo and Larry started their own grocery retail/liquidation business where Florence enjoyed working throughout the years, as well as raising three daughters
Florence was very artistic and creative. She loved to paint and was always drawing or doodling on a scratch pad. Over the years, Florence created many beautiful oil paintings that have been enjoyed by many. Florence was fun-loving, carefree, independent, and a wonderful wife, caregiver and mother. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, and was truly loved by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Florence is survived by her three daughters Terry (Larry Bigler) Fraser, Brenda Hansford, and Donna (Verne) Latta; grandchildren Trevor, Christopher (Tammy), Jory (Jenn) and Casie; great-grandchildren Aleasha, Caden, Allan, Ethan, Aiden and Ellie; and three brothers, Bill, Bob, and Jim Broadstock.
Florence was pre-deceased by her husband Laurence (2000) and her parents, John and Florence Broadstock.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Millican Ogden Community Centre (6901-20A St. S.E.) on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alzheimer’s Society of Calgary or a charity of your choice.

Flo was truly a very special woman! Her smile, flair and moxie continues to inspire me! They don’t make them like that anymore….forever loved and remembered. With deepest sympathy to all her family and friends.

I have only amazing memories of Aunty Florence. I remember being in awe of her natural beauty and how she lit up any room she walked into with her smile and sparkle in her eyes when I was a little girl. She always made everyone feel welcomed and loved. The love she and Uncle Laurence had was immeasurable. They were never apart and the spark they had between them was always apparent. My Dad always called her Flossy and he was the only one I ever heard call her that. I t was obviously an inside joke between them but also meant with love. They both laughed when he called her that. She will never be forgotten and will always be loved.
