FESIK John April 19 1929 – December 4 2018

FESIK, John
April 19, 1929 – December 4, 2018
On April 19th, 1929 John began his humble life in the farming community of Hampton, Saskatchewan. He was the youngest of 7 children and inherited a love of music from his father and a gentle kindness from his mother. At the age of 11 he learned about Jehovah and began sharing in the ministry, he was baptized in 1946 at the first international convention in Cleveland, Ohio.
In his youth he ventured to the Ontario forests and worked as a lumberjack until winter ended and then headed back to Saskatchewan to work on the farms. John moved into the town of Kamsack and went to work in construction. He and his brother later went back east and found work in Hamilton, Ontario in a factory that vulcanized tires. Several years later they joined a Christian brother back west in the construction business. This brought him closer to family and friends and of course more specifically the Todosichuk family – whose eldest daughter had caught his eye.
In January 1952 he married his soul mate, Ellnor and they began a life filled with challenges, adventures, and joys all revolving around their love and loyalty towards Jehovah. Their family soon grew to include 4 sons and a daughter and John made it a priority to put spiritual activities first.
They settled in Bowness and in 1958 participated in the construction of the Kingdom Hall for the congregation which had grown to over 120 publishers and it is still standing today – sort of! This was to be just one of dozens of Kingdom Hall construction projects in the area, in which he and his sons had a share.
For some 37 of his 65 years in the Bowness Congregation, John served as congregation servant/elder. Prior to his failing health in 2018, he had never missed a District Convention or Circuit Assembly. He greatly enjoyed playing the role of Pharaoh in the Joseph Drama some years ago. John always took any privileges of service very seriously and diligently prepared them.
John will long be remembered for his love of music and sense of humor. He loved corny jokes and shared them with everyone he encountered! He would play the violin for family and friends – as a special treat for the children he performed his version of Grandfather’s Clock – causing giggles all around!
John’s greatest qualities were his faith and loyalty. His 67 year marriage, his unswerving love for Jehovah are both strong evidence of this.
John’s life was one filled with family, friends and blessings from Jehovah. He touched many lives and his legacy will live on thru his children, grand children and yes great grand children! There is no doubt in our mind that ‘The Tribe of Fesik’ will heartily welcome dad back in the new world and continue to work shoulder to shoulder with him in paradise!
