Our loving mother passed away peacefully on December 28, 2017. She resided in Saint John, however, was born in Montreal on January 19th, 1937 where a piece of her heart always remained.
She will be dearly missed by her two daughters; Lyn Van Tassel (Jamie McCormick) and Judy Van Tassel (Marcel Savoie), two grandsons; Michael and Mitchell, her brother Malcolm Carter (Bernadine) along with four nieces, and one nephew. Along with her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by the girl’s father John (Skip) Van Tassel and her parents Mable and Michael Carter.
Mom enjoyed travel, playing bridge, going to the Goodlife, and dinners with her family and friends. As a young woman she worked for Canaport and then later adored her 25-year career as a court stenographer with the Provincial Court Family Division. She will always be remembered as a caring mother and grandmother whose greatest passion was helping those who needed it most.
A heartfelt thank you for the outstanding care provided by Shannex Quispamsis and to all the wonderful people we met on our visits with our mother.
In keeping with our mother’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will celebration of life/service at Shadow Lawn in Rothesay at 3180 Rothesay Road, on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2 pm. Interment will take place at a later date.
