Dad was part of the Ordinance Corp. during WWII who served in Belgium , Holland , France , England . During time in Holland he met mom while picking up laundry that her mother (Oma) did for the troops. On Nov 14, 1945 mom and dad were married in the Netherlands and mom was the first Dutch war bride to come to Kings County , NB after the war. After the war dad drove truck, worked in the woods and was a heavy equipment and crane operator. In about June 1968 mom and dad moved to the farm in Springfield where dad was a farmer until retirement. After retirement they moved to the Sus area and them back to Springfield and back to Sus after mom passed away. Dad always enjoyed playing 45’s and for years he would travel the country side playing cards. I think he went for the lunches as he always had a great appetite. He mentioned one time that Smith Creek and lovely Washington pies. Dad was a legion member and a member of the Belleisle Seniors.
We would like to thank all of the home care workers who helped dad over the years and to the Nurses and Doctor who took care of him.
