Obituary Overview
Eric Sanderson Murphy
1933 – 2018
After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Eric Murphy on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Grace Hospital at the age of 85 years. Left to cherish his memory are children Debbie, Brent, Cheryl and Michael, grandchildren Melanie, Nicholas, William, Emma and John, great grandchildren Brooke and Owen, brothers Lawrence (Goldie) and Dennis as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Geraldine, his mom, Peggy, dad, Harold, brothers Roy and Harold and sister-in-law’s Shirley and Doreen.
Eric joined the RCMP in 1954. While training in Regina, Saskatchewan he met his wife of 49 years Geraldine.
In 1975 Eric and his partner travelled to England to play in the Worlds Dart Championships where they placed 3rd in doubles.
He was president of the St. James Legion #4 from 2003 – 2004 and could be found there every Wednesday and Friday playing darts and on Saturdays to attend the meat draw.
Eric was always there to cheer on anything his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in such as baseball games, football games and Christmas concerts.
When the Murphy’s got together there was always laughter, story-telling and of course card games.
Eric’s funeral will take place on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grace Community Church, 280 Caron Road, Headingley, Manitoba.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Grace Hospital for all their support and care. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Eric’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Eric Sanderson Murphy 2018..
