Emmaline “Grace” Byers
Grace Byers, age 86, affectionately known as “Snibbie”, received her heavenly wings on May 12, 2018.
Born in Africville, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Rosella (Sparks) Carvery. Grace was a lifelong resident of Lower Sackville and was employed with Sunnyside Restaurant until her retirement. A member of Cobequid Road Baptist Church and a member of the Women in Christ. Grace loved to sing in the choir and enjoyed fellowship. Grace will always be remembered as a kind spiritual woman, who loved family and would welcome all who entered her home.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Winnison “Goldie” Byers; daughter, Rosalyn Carvery; son, Wayne Carvery, and brother Earle ”Tump” Carvery.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Perry (Stephanie), Paul (Susan), Patricia “Susie” Lively (Richard),
Graham (Pam); special daughter, Shawna Lucas; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Rose Grant, Halifax; Evelyn Lawrence (Raymond), Dartmouth; Marie Sorrells (Andrew), San Francisco, CA; Lorraine Steward, Montreal, PQ; and Carol Toussaint, Lower Sackville; brothers, Edward Carvery, Halifax and Percy Carvery, Lower Sackville; as well as a host of relatives.
The family will gather to receive friends on May 17th, 2018 form 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Atlantic Funeral Home, 125
Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville B4C 2R3.
A celebration of her life will he held on May 18th, 2018, 1:00 pm at Atlantic Funeral Home Sackville Drive. Reverend Tracey Grosse, officiating.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cobequid Road United Baptist Church. Special thanks to the medical staff at Abbie J Lane Hospital, QEII Health Sciences Center for their care and compassion. “
