OBITUARY
Emma LeFort
January 5, 1925 – July 15, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Emma LeFort, at home, surrounded by her loving family on July 15th, 2018.
Emma was born in Inverness, Nova Scotia on January 5th,1925 to Frank and Bertha Finn.
She worked in St. Mary’s Hospital, Inverness, in housekeeping and in the X-Ray Department for over 30 years. She became Director of Housekeeping in 1985, then retired in 1987.
Emma’s real passion was her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, not only for her family but for anyone with a sweet tooth. No one left her house without a full belly and a hot cup of tea.
Emma enjoyed the simple things in life like sitting on her deck swing, having quiet time with her cat Kelly, planting her flowers and a good game of cards or bingo.
She is survived by sons, Fred (Dianne), Jerry and Bernie (Nancy) LeFort; daughters, Lucy (John) Burke and Gail (Gerald) Feetham; grandchildren, Collette, Melinda, Tiffany, Derek, Christopher, Mathew and Danielle; great-grandchildren, Accacia, Leelyn and Noah; great-great-grandchildren, Summer Joy and Penny-Lou. Emma is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Bertha; sisters, Mary Jane, Josephine, Julia, Annie, Mary Catherine and Nelly Mae; brother, John Jim; and son, Harold.
A very special thank you to the Palliative Care team and Homecare for all their care and support over the last 8 months.
Visitation will be held in Inverness Funeral Home on Monday, July 23rd from 11:30 a.m – 1:30 p.m. with Funeral Mass to follow at 2:00p.m. in Stella Maris Church, Inverness, with Father Dan MacDonald officiating, burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
